Reiss notes that current franchise player Adam Vinatieri is currently signed to a one-year contract for $2.5 million and talks have been underway for some time to get a long-term deal done. Vinatieri could be in line for one of the richest contracts ever for a kicker because of his clutch work and pinpoint accuracy. He could demand a contract similar to that of Denver Broncos Jason Elam or Miami's Olindo Mare, which means at least a $3 million bonus.
Finally, Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times offers a story on Tedy Bruschi. Bruschi, whose playing status for the 2005 season is still unknown, is one of the latest athletes to be forced to weigh the risks of making a return from a serious health issue.
