After eight seasons with the team, veteran Mike Vrabelwas traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in February leaving a linebacker position open for the 2009 season. Despite missing all of last season due to a shin injury, the Patriots might look to Shawn Crable. Crable, a third-round draft pick out of Michigan in 2008, is expected to challenge Pierre Woods, Vince Redd and Tully Banta-Cain for the job. According to a* Patriot Ledger *story, Crable was making a "smooth transition" into the position last season before sustaining the injury.
