The big lights of a professional football stadium are enough to get any college player amped and dreaming about a career in the NFL. When Mississippi State University comes to Gillette Stadium on Saturday to play UMass, they will have taken an extra step to emulate an NFL team.
The Bulldogs will be sporting alternate jerseys when they step on the Gillette Stadium field, and the uniforms were inspired by none other than the New England Patriots. With stripes on their sleeves, silver helmets and similar numbers, the inspiration is clear, though the Bulldogs will still rock their classic maroon and white. The collar of the jersey matches that of the Patriots, as well.
The tip of the hat to the Patriots hasn't gone unnoticed, and with a former Patriot now on the Mississippi State coaching staff, it is a nice touch. Former Patriot Terrell Buckley now serves as an assistant coach for MSU. Terrell was on the Super Bowl XXXVI Championship team, and when he returns to Gillette Stadium this weekend, his team will have a familiar look.
We like your style, Bulldogs.
