FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots re-signed offensive lineman Tom Ashworth today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Ashworth, 25, was on the Patriots active roster for the entire 2002 season and participated in one game while being listed among the day-of-game inactives in the remaining 15 contests. The 6-foot-6-inch, 305-pound offensive lineman made his NFL debut in a Patriots uniform on Oct. 6, 2002 against the Dolphins in Miami.
A native of Englewood, Colo., Ashworth was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Francisco 49ers on April 27, 2001 and was released following the 49ers' 2001 training camp. The Patriots signed Ashworth to their practice squad prior to the start of the 2001 season, where he remained for 13 of 16 regular-season games and all three playoff games. The Patriots signed the University of Colorado product to their active roster on Feb. 11, 2002.
