Foxborough, Mass. - The New England Patriots released linebacker Andy Katzenmoyer today.
Katzenmoyer, 24, was originally drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 1999 NFL draft (28th overall) out of Ohio State. He started 11 of 16 games as a rookie and recorded 107 tackles, including 3.5 sacks. In 2000, he started three of eight games played before being placed on injured reserve with a neck/back injury. Last year, he reported to training camp, but suffered an early setback and was placed on injured reserve for the season on Aug. 28, 2001. His career totals include 14 starts in 24 games and 129 total tackles.
