SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The New England Patriots announced that they have waived third-year quarterback Michael Bishop today.
Bishop, 25, was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL draft out of Kansas State. The 6-foot-2-inch, 215-pound quarterback played in eight games in two seasons with the Patriots and completed 3 of 9 passes (.333) for 80 yards. He also threw one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed seven times for –1 yard. In the spring of 2001, he was allocated to the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe. He started six games for the Galaxy and completed 76 of 153 passes (.497) for 1,090 yards, including 11 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
