PATRIOTS SIGN DL BERNARD HOLSEY AND RELEASE DL CHRIS SULLIVAN
Smithfield, RI – The New England Patriots signed defensive lineman Bernard Holsey and released defensive lineman Chris Sullivan, today.
Holsey, 28, has totaled 136 career tackles while playing in 80 games during his five-year playing career. He amassed career-highs in starts (13), tackles (76) and solo tackles (33) with the Indianapolis Colts in 2000. The 6-foot-2-inch, 286-pound defensive lineman was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the New York Giants on April 26, 1996 following his collegiate career at Duke. Holsey played in all 64 games during his four-year stint with the Giants and recorded 60 tackles and three sacks. He also spent part of the 2002 Arena Football League season with the Dallas Desperados.
Sullivan, 29, was signed by the Patriots on Dec. 12, 2001 and was listed among the team's inactives during the final three games of the regular season and all three playoff games. The six-foot-4-inch, 285-pound defensive lineman has recorded 109 total tackles (74 solos) during his six-year playing career.
