Patriots Football Weekly has created a weekly Power Ranking based on the proprietary Wilson-Hart Power Index. The system uses the most important statistics in the game — those most closely associated to winning and losing — to rank all 32 NFL teams based on their performance to date this season.
The weekly consistency continues once again at the top of the Wilson-Hart Power Index as the Seahawks, Saints and Chiefs maintain a stronghold on the top three spots despite all three playing suspect football this past weekend.
As for the Patriots, New England's impressive win over the Steelers pushed Bill Belichick's team up three spots to No. 6 overall. It will be interesting to see if New England can maintain that momentum after this week's bye.
As we get into the heart of the season there is more limited movement in the Index given the increased sample size of what teams have been doing for two-plus months. As such, the Eagles and Browns were tied as the biggest risers of the week moving up just four slots to No. 15 and No. 19, respectively. The greatest fall occurred in Oakland where the Raiders were beat down by Philadelphia and subsequently dropped down 11 spots in the Index to No. 28.
The basement of the rankings continues to be home of the Jaguars, with a seemingly solid lock on No. 32 overall. Not far ahead of Jacksonville, though, it's interesting not only that the Giants are No. 31 but also that New York's other team, the Jets, moved up just one slot to No. 27 as Rex Ryan continues to piece together dubious wins.
