FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Reading High School's Tom Kasprzak has been named the New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week in recognition of his team's come from behind victory over host Burlington.
The Rockets came back from a 20-0 deficit after the first quarter to stun Burlington in a 36-35 victory. With three touchdowns in the second quarter Reading pulled to within seven, entering the locker room down 28-21 at the intermission. With 1:46 left in the game, the Rockets scored a touchdown to bring them within one at 35-34. Kasprzak decided to go for two, which gave Reading the stunning victory.
This season marks the eighth year in which the Patriots have joined the National Football League in conducting the High School Coach of the Week program, which recognizes outstanding high school coaches and promotes youth football. Each week during the season, the Patriots will honor a coach from the New England area as the Coach of the Week.
The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will donate $1,000 to the Reading High School's Football Program in Kasprzak's name in recognition of his selection as Coach of the Week.
The Patriots High School Coach of the Week is selected by a panel including representatives of the Patriots and WCVB Channel 5, which airs the team's weekly magazine show, Patriots All Access, on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. WCVB sports anchor Mike Lynch is the host of the show. Lynch and Andre Tippett, a Patriots Hall of Fame member and the Patriots Football Development and Promotions Director, will present Kasprzak with the Coach of the Week honors on this week's show.
