SEASONAL REVIEWS

2023 (17/6)

• Played in all 17 games with six starts. Recorded a career-high 64 tackles (39 solo, 25 assists), 81/2 sacks for a loss of 60.5 yards, 16 quarterback hits, 13 tackles-for-loss, six passed defensed and one forced fumble.
• Part of the 7th-ranked Patriots defense that finished fourth in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game. The 2023 defense allowed an average of 93.2 rushing yards per game, the third lowest in team history since the 1970 merger.
• Recorded his first sack of the season when he brought QB Zach Wilson down for a loss of 12 yards at the N.Y. Jets (9/24). Part of a defensive unit that held the Jets to just 38 rushing yards.
• Collected a sack in the second quarter vs. Buffalo (10/22), where he brought QB Josh Allen down for a loss of 7 yards, which led to a missed field goal attempt preserving the Patriots' 13-3 lead.
• Had a 6-yard sack on a 2nd-and-6 situation in the first quarter at Miami (10/29) for his third sack of the year, a single-season career best.
• Finished the game vs. Washington (11/5) with two passes defensed, his second game of the season with two passes defensed. He had two passes defensed at Las Vegas (10/15).
• Collected a sack in the second quarter vs. Kansas City (12/17), when he dropped QB Patrick Mahomes for a 7-yard loss, putting the Chiefs in a 3rd-and-long situation.
• Had his first career three-sack game, all in the third quarter at Denver (12/24). He had two 8-yard sacks and one 9-yard sack on QB Russell Wilson.

• Played in 10 games with three starts, rotating in on the defensive line. Recorded 23 total tackles (12 solo, 11 assists), 2½ sacks for a loss of 15.5 yards, seven quarterback hits and one pass defensed.
• Was inactive for three games due to an injury suffered at Cleveland (10/16) before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 18. Returned to action at Las Vegas (12/18) after missing seven games.
• Recorded two total tackles at Pittsburgh (9/18), including his first sack of the season for a loss of seven yards in the second quarter.
• Made his first start of the season at Green Bay (10/2). Had four total tackles.
• Part of the defensive unit that pitched a shutout vs. Detroit (10/9) in a 29-0 victory, who entered the game with the top-ranked offense in the NFL. Had four total tackles (1 solo, 3 assist). Combined with DL Davon Godchaux to make a fourth down stop in the Lions first drive of the game. The defense stopped all 6 of Detroit's fourth down attempts.
• Had two tackles at Cleveland (10/16). Part of the defensive unit that held Cleveland, who entered the game with the top ranked rushing attack, to 70 rushing yards. It was the first time this season the Browns had less than 170 rushing yards.
• Activated to the 53-man roster from injured reserve and played at Las Vegas (12/18). Recorded three assisted tackles and half a sack.

• Played all 17 games with two starts and recorded 46 total tackles (23 solo, 23 assists), 1 1/2 sacks for a loss of 15 yards, nine quarterback hits and two passes defensed.
• Earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors in his rookie season.
• Made his first NFL start vs. N.Y. Jets (10/24) and recorded three total tackles with two quarterback hits. Tackled Jets RB Ty Johnson on a fourth down stop in the second quarter.
• Had a 1/2 sack for a 4-yard loss in the fourth quarter at L.A. Chargers (10/31). Combined with LB Matthew Judon for the sack of QB Justin Herbert.
• Was a disruptive force at Carolina (11/7) with pressure forcing three interceptions.
• Strong rush at Atlanta (11/18) helped force four sacks, four interceptions and limit the Falcons to just 40 yards rushing.
• Rotated in on the defensive line vs. Jacksonville (1/2) and registered his first solo sack when he dropped Jacksonville QB Trevor Lawrence for an 11-yard loss on the last play of the first half.
• Recorded a season high five combined tackles at Miami (1/9), including four solo tackles before leaving the game due to injury.
• Played in his first playoff game in the Wild Card Round loss at Buffalo (1/15), recording two tackles.

COLLEGE

• Named third-team All-American and first-team All-SEC by Associated Press as a redshirt sophomore in 2020.
• Integral part of the 2020 BCS National Champion Crimson Tide, earning Defensive Most Valuable Player in the CFP National Championship win over Ohio State.
• Recorded a team-high eight sacks in 2020.
• Played in 12 games and totaled 37 tackles, a team-high eight sacks, a team-high three forced fumbles and three passes defensed as part of the BCS National Champion Crimson Tide in 2020.
• Selected as Defensive Most Valuable Player of the National Championship Game after contributing five tackles (two for loss) and one sack in the win over Ohio State (1/11).
• Named to the Freshman All-SEC team by league coaches in 2019. Played in 12 games and totaled 26 tackles, two sacks and two passes defensed.
• Redshirted as a freshman in 2018.

PERSONAL:

• Grew up in Philadelphia and attended Abraham Lincoln High School his freshman year before transferring Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School.
• Originally verbally committed to play college football at Temple during the summer going into his senior year, but de-committed and reopened his recruitment.
• Chose Alabama over offers from Baylor, Florida, Georgia, and LSU.
