Kraft Sports Group Properties Offer Unique Presence in the Region
Fort Worth, Texas - American Airlines today announced a three-year, integrated, marketing partnership with the New England Patriots of the National Football League and the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer.
The agreement establishes American as the Official Airline and the Official Sponsor of both teams and of Gillette Stadium. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"We have a long history of service in Boston, and we are thrilled to be working closely with the storied Patriots, the Revolution and their fans," said Charlie Schewe, American's Managing Director, Passenger Sales - Northeast Region.
American will activate this sponsorship opportunity through the teams' media properties, including TV and radio programming, out-of-home advertising, and in-stadium signage along with their online assets, which include Patriots.com and RevolutionSoccer.net. The airline also will conduct day-of-game promotions and work with the teams on community outreach.
The airline will promote a wide range of its products and services, including its award-winning Web site, AA.com, as well as the AAdvantage frequent flyer program, Admirals Club® lounges, American Eagle Airlines and its network of more than 250 destinations in over 40 countries.
"We are thrilled to be working with a best-in-class company like American Airlines," said Murray Kohl, Kraft Sports Group Vice President of Sales. "Because American flies to 250 cities in 40 countries, the airline reaches many Patriots and Revolution fans spread around the globe."
With the Patriots celebrating their 50th Anniversary in 2009, the team will use American Airlines to fly back most of the players who comprise the Patriots' 50th Anniversary Team for a ceremony in their honor at the Patriots' regular season opener against the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium on Sept. 14, 2009.
American will use its relationship with the Revolution to augment its Major League Soccer partnership, a successful affiliation that has yielded strong results in the U.S. Hispanic market, as well as the national soccer community.
"We have focused more closely on developing affinity marketing opportunities with major sports and entertainment entities because they offer a great fit with our customers and our network, and both the Patriots and the Revolution can deliver that for American," said Schewe. "We are also very excited to see the Patriots play this year in London, a city that American serves from Boston Logan Airport with three daily nonstop flights."
