BB: I don't have too much to add after last night other than it was great to see our fans out there that were here to be here when the buses pulled up. It says a lot about those people and the fan base we have here. It's much, much appreciated by all of us. Otherwise, we'll try to take a little time here, regroup, figure out some of things that we need to do and move forward. The combine is in two and a half weeks. I'm sure there will be lot of things on the agenda between now and then so we'll just take them as they come. For right now, we're just kind of collecting our thoughts and we'll figure it out in due course.
Q:What do you say to guys like Kevin Faulk and Brian Waters who may be contemplating retirement to try to convince them to come back or otherwise?
BB: I think the day after the game or an hour or two after the game is not the time to make any long-term decisions. I think it's probably best that all of us - young players, old players, young coaches, old coaches - that we all take a little time to just catch our breath, collect our thoughts and try not to make any life-changing decisions coming off - either way; try to make those big decisions right on the tail end of big emotions in a game like that.
Q:Will you pull a guy like Kevin Faulk aside?
BB: I'll talk to all the players, [yes].
Q:How proud are you of your team?
BB: Real proud of them. I thought they worked hard all year, they competed well all season. We won a lot of games and even the ones we didn't win, we fought right to the end and played very competitively. We did that last night, just came up a little bit short. I have all the respect in the world for the team and all the players and what they've done for over six months. It's not about one game or one play or anything, it's the whole body of work. I really, really enjoyed coaching this team and have a lot of respect for them.
Q:Can you talk about some of the things that you'll remember most from this season?
BB: It's hard to win games in this league so all the games that we won. I certainly remember all the ones that we didn't. We made a lot of good plays over the course of the year. I don't want to single anybody out or single out any one particular thing. I've talked about the Pittsburgh game. I thought that was a big step for us; to come back off those two losses against Pittsburgh and the Giants, to go down and beat New York in New York, beat the Jets, that was a big game for us where things might have started to go the other way but they didn't. Then it was nine straight after that. The Denver games, those were both big games for us; didn't go perfectly but in the end we got things straightened out out there and played well here in the playoffs. There are a lot of good memories this year.
Q:Can you go over what your thinking was on allowing them to score? Was that determined during the timeout?
BB: No, not really. I don't want to get into the whole thing, the whole sequence there. Basically, we felt like that was our best chance with the field position they had, to try to get the ball back and give ourselves an opportunity to have the last possession rather than have the game end on a kick that well over 90 percent success rate from the field position they were in.
Q:Can you describe how emotionally and physically draining this experience is?
BB: Well, the more you put into something, the stronger the feelings are when the event is over. I think we all know that. If you don't put anything into it, something happens, it doesn't make that much difference. You put a lot into it, you get positive or negative results, they're at the other end of the scale.
Q:Will you have any down time or will you just have to jump into the combine and the draft at this point?
BB: We'll see how it goes here. I really haven't been thinking a lot about what my schedule is going to be too much. I've just thought about trying to get ready for the Giants and win last night. We'll deal with, like I said, there are a lot of questions you can ask that we can talk about that in all honestly, I just don't have the answers to.
Q:Where do things stand for the succession plan for Bill O'Brien and offensive coordinator position?
BB: It's Josh [McDaniels].
Q:What did you say to Tom Coughlin when you met on the field?
BB: My conversations with other coaches and players remain between me and those people, private conversations.
