Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is taking advantage of his celebrity status while in his home state of California this week. Brady is one of the many celebrity participants in this weekend's Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, California. Brady and his partner, PGA golfer Jesper Parnevik sit just two shots back on the celebrity leaderboard at –8 after Thursday's opening round of play.
Brady and Parnevik shot a 64 at the Spyglass Hill Golf Course on Thursday afternoon. The pair got off to a fast start shooting a –6, 30 on the front nine and finished up the strong opening effort with a 34 on the back nine. The pair sits tied for the eighth spot in the tournament. After Thursday's action there was a tie atop the leaderboard at –10, 62 between the team of Kevin Sutherland and Brian Gross and the team of John Senden and Thomas Seibel.

Brady and Parnevik tee off today at 11:10 ET at the Poppy Hills Golf Course, one of the three courses that are home to the tournament.
The pair played yesterday's round in a foursome with Fred Couples and another great NFL signal caller, future Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino. Couples and Marino also shot a –8, 64 on the afternoon.
Today's action can be seen from 3-6 p.m. ET on the USA cable network. This weekend's action will air on CBS from 3-6 p.m. ET on Saturday and 3-6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. Sunday's final round of action at Pebble Beach Golf Links will consist of the 60 lowest professional players and the 25 low scoring teams.
Other notable current and former NFL players in the tournament include Dallas running back Emmitt Smith and former Steeler Lynn Swann
