Tom is an industrial arts teacher at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, MA, and his former student nominated him to be our Hero of the Week with the submission below:
"In 2009 I was in high school and had one of the most remarkable teachers I had ever met and known. He was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was a flight mechanic onboard blackhawk helicopters. After serving, he came back to teach industrial arts at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, MA, where I had him as a teacher. But, towards the end of the school year, he came to class with news of a letter he received in the mail summoning him to another tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He left for his deployment for an entire calendar year, only to come back and once again return to teaching his students at Oliver Ames, where he also coaches wrestling. Tom Baldino is deserving of this award not only for the service he has shown towards his country, but for the service he has shown towards both his students and athletes at Oliver Ames." – Joseph Locke
