FOXBOROUGH, Mass. –** The Patriots' last four wins have lacked fourth-quarter drama, but that hasn't stopped New England football fans from tuning in to see what the NFL's highest scoring offense does next. FOX's broadcast of the Patriots' 34-9 win over the Detroit Lions at Gillette Stadium on Sunday drew a 35.6 household rating and a season-high 70 market share in the Boston regional market. Market share refers to the percentage of active televisions tuned in to a particular show, meaning that on average, 70 percent of people watching television on Sunday afternoon in the Boston regional market were watching the Patriots game. The win, which was New England's seventh straight, was the fourth-highest rated Patriots game ever on FOX and the most-watched game on the network since 2011.
The Patriots-Lions game was also the No. 1 ranked show in the Boston market for the week by a wide margin, averaging 1,327,400 viewers. The next highest rated show of the week locally was another NFL game – an AFC matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos – which kicked off at 4:25 p.m. and garnered a 17.6 household rating and 29 share. Local ratings for the NFL's two primetime games of the week also paled in comparison to the Patriots' afternoon tilt with the Lions. NBC's "Sunday Night Football" game between the Cowboys and Giants drew an 11.5 rating and 19 market share, while ESPN's "Monday Night Football" matchup between the Steelers and Titans drew a 7.9 household rating and 13 market share.
The Patriots hit the road for the first of two straight away games as they travel to Green Bay next week to take on the Packers on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 4:25 p.m. The Packers are a perfect 5-0 at Lambeau Field this season, but the Patriots have been great away from home, as they own an NFL-best .650 road winning percentage since 2000. Jim Nantz will call play-by-play with Phil Simms providing color commentary and Tracy Wolfson reporting from the sidelines for CBS's featured game of the week. The game can be seen locally on Boston's CBS affiliate, WBZ Channel 4.
