FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Nike and Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft teamed up to create a one-of-a-kind shoe that fans will surely get a kick out of in advance of the team's Super Bowl LI rematch with the Atlanta Falcons on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" at Gillette Stadium.
The shoe, which is made from Super Bowl LI game balls, will be on display for public viewing at The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with paid admission and at the Patriots ProShop from 3:00 p.m. until close on Sunday, Oct. 22 for the Patriots-Falcons game (8:30 p.m. kickoff).
Nike's footwear development team took materials from the Patriots' Super Bowl LI game balls and constructed a one-of-a-kind shoe that uniquely pays homage to the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history. The tongue of the shoe is made from the laces of the game balls, and the shoe also features the original markings from the balls displayed throughout the heel, toe box and tongue. The entire shoe was made at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
The partnership between Nike and Kraft has been a perfect fit since the two teamed up in 2014 to design the Nike Lunar Force Ones. Patriots Nike shoes designed for Kraft have not only become an annual tradition for Patriots fans and sneakerheads alike, but have also raised a seven-figure sum to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.
The morning of the Patriots' prime time season opener in September, Kraft greeted fans at the Patriots ProShop in celebration of the launch of the fourth Nike RKK Air Force 1 Flyknit sneaker, which also commemorated Super Bowl LI.
