Patriots acquire T Michael Williams in a trade with Detroit

The Patriots announced today that they have acquired T Michael Williams in a trade with the Detroit Lions.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have acquired T Michael Williams in a trade with the Detroit Lions in exchange for an undisclosed future draft pick.

Williams, 24, originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick (211th overall) by Detroit out of Alabama in the 2013 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-6, 304-pounder, was drafted by Detroit as a tight end. He spent his rookie season in 2013 on injured reserve after suffering an injury in the preseason. Williams was converted to an offensive tackle last spring and spent the 2014 season on the Detroit practice squad learning his new position.
