FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have claimed S Don Jones off waivers from Miami.
In addition, the Patriots released OL Chris Barker.
Jones, 24, spent the 2013 season with the Miami Dolphins after joining the team as a seventh-round draft pick (250th overall) out of Arkansas State in the 2013 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder, played in all 16 games last season for Miami and led the team with 11 special teams tackles. He was released by Miami on Aug. 31, 2014.
Barker, 24, is in his second NFL season after spending the entire 2014 season on the New England roster. The 6-foot-2, 310-pounder, was claimed off waivers and awarded to the Patriots from Miami on Sept. 1, 2013. He appeared in four games, playing mainly on special teams. Barker was originally signed by Miami as a rookie free agent out of Nevada on May 3, 2013 but was released on Aug. 31, 2013.
