FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -The New England Patriots announced today that they have claimed DT Darius Kilgo off waivers from the Denver Broncos and released RB D.J. Foster from the 53-man roster.
Kilgo, 24, originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (203rd overall) by Denver in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Maryland. The 6-foot-3, 319-pounder, has appeared in 18 games as a reserve over two seasons and compiled 11 tackles and one pass defensed. In 2015, Kilgo appeared in nine regular-season games and posted six tackles and one pass defensed. He was inactive for all three postseason games. This season, he has played in nine games and made five tackles. Kilgo was released by Denver on Nov. 25, 2016.
Foster, 23, was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Arizona State on May 6, 2016. The 6-foot, 195-pounder, played in three games and accrued 24 yards rushing on seven attempts (3.4 avg.) and caught one pass for two yards. Foster appeared in 53 games during his four-year career at Arizona State and tallied 4,829 all-purpose yards, including 2,458 yards receiving and 2,355 on the ground.
