*ESPNBoston.com* succinctly recapped a busy one for the Patriots yesterday:
#1. Kicker Stephen Gostkowski was added to the season-ending Injured Reserve (IR) list. Gostkowski leaves the team this season with a torn quad muscle that might require surgery, *ESPNBoston.com* reported today and went on to say the fifth-year kicker is third in the NFL at kickoffs, 10-of-13 on field goals this season.
- The Pats replaced him with Shayne Graham, from the Bengals. Read more about the kicker switch in the *Boston Globe*. Also, in the *Boston Herald*. The kicker from Cincinnati, who hasn't booted a field goal since last season, will be working with rookie holder Zoltan Mesko and newly signed snapper Matt Katula, the Globe writes.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick said this of the fledgling kicking triangle in his press conference yesterday:
"Well we've got a few days, so it doesn't really matter. We'll do the best we can in the time that we have. I know those guys have gotten started on it already. We know there's a lot of work to do, so we'll get at it. But, you know, they've all played in the league. They're all hardworking guys and I'm sure they'll do what they can in the next few days to get it the best that it can be."
- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will miss Gostkowski. Brady addressed the Pats' kicking game without the fifth-year kicker, in his press conference yesterday:
"I didn't realize that. That's news to me. That's a bummer. [Gostkowski]'s been a hell of a player here and a great kicker. We've had a few guys put on IR this year that are really great, dependable players that have worked hard - Kevin [Faulk] and Ty Warren. He will be missed."
#2. Long snapper Jake Ingram, who's been struggling lately, was released. Matt Katula replaced him.
#3. Quarterback Tom Brady didn't practice due to a sprained foot injury. Read about it in the *Boston Globe* and the *Boston Herald*. Both papers report Brady is expected to play on Sunday. Also read more about Brady on *ESPNBoston.com*.
#4. Running back Fred Taylor finally returned to practice yesterday after sustaining a substantial toe injury on Sept. 26, against the Bills. Read about Taylor in the *Boston Globe* and the *Boston Herald*.
#5. Rookie cornerback Thad Turner was signed to the eight-man practice squad.
