After a rain filled morning of training camp, the media spoke with players about the new season. The *Boston Globe *includes articles about the mental and physical states of QB Tom Bradyand DL Richard Seymour.
Brady has not been around Foxborough as often as he has in the past, but that should not be a cause for alarm.
"I think it's important for every player to do everything they can to be ready for the season. I think Tom did everything he can to be ready for the season," said coach Bill Belichick. "I think Tom is well prepared for the season. I think he'll be ready to go. But he's got a long way to go like everyone else does."
As for Seymour, he was able to prepare differently this off-season as he wasn't stricken by injury. "I was able to regain a lot of strength," he said."I look at it and say, 'I'm 28 years old, in the prime of my career, and I feel good.' That's definitely a start."
Another returning player who is feeling good about this year's training camp and the opportunities that lie ahead is S Brandon Meriweather.
“Opportunity is knocking,” he said. "It's not just because I'm a second-year player I feel like opportunity is knocking. Last year, opportunity was knocking. Year before that . . . whenever you're a part of something, opportunity is knocking." said the Patriots defensive back to the Boston Herald.
Lastly, the Globe reports on LB **Jerod Mayo's **new contract, and see where Patriots coach Bill Belichick ranks among the league's best according to SportingNews.com.
