FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have released DL Michael Buchanan and WR Kevin Dorsey.
Buchanan, 24, is a veteran of two NFL seasons with New England after joining the team as a seventh round draft pick (226th overall) out of Illinois in 2013. The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder, has played in 18 NFL games and has registered four total tackles and two sacks. He has also played in two postseason games. Buchanan was limited to three games in 2015 due to injury and was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 7.
Dorsey, 25, is a veteran of two NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers, and joined the Patriots as a free agent on May 11, 2015. The 6-1, 207-pounder, originally joined Green Bay as a seventh-round draft pick (224th overall) in 2013 out of Maryland. He spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve due to an injury sustained in the preseason. Dorsey spent the first five weeks of the 2014 season on the practice squad before being signed to Green Bay's 53-man roster on Oct. 6, 2014. He played in three games and had one reception for four yards before being placed on injured reserve in November. Dorsey was released by Green Bay on Feb. 17, 2015
