Patriots sign C Ryan Wendell to the practice squad

The New England Patriots signed C Ryan Wendell to the practice squad today. Wendell was waived by New England on Tuesday when the team acquired LB Prescott Burgess.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed C Ryan Wendell to the practice squad today. Wendell was waived by New England on Tuesday when the team acquired LB Prescott Burgess. To make room on the eight-man practice squad for Wendell, the team released T Patrick Brown from the practice squad.

Wendell, 6-2, 285 pounds, was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Fresno State in 2008. After spending last season on the New England practice squad, Wendell made the 53-man roster out of training camp and played in the first two games of the 2009 season on special teams.

Brown, 6-5, 312 pounds, was originally signed by the Carolina Panthers as a rookie free agent out of Central Florida on April 30, 2009. He was waived by the Panthers in their final cuts and signed to the New England practice squad on September 7
