FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed rookie defensive back Willie Andrews today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. New England selected Andrews in the seventh round (229th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.
Andrews, 22, attended Baylor University, where he played in 46 games with 34 starts over four seasons. The 5-foot-10-inch, 195-pound defensive back set multiple school records as a return specialist while starting every game of his final three seasons at safety. In his collegiate career, he recorded 219 tackles (153 solo) with 8.5 sacks, three interceptions and 13 passes defensed. Andrews owns Baylor records for kickoff returns (67), kickoff return yards (1,647) and punt return yards (949).
