FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed LB Prescott Burgess to the practice squad today. Burgess was released from the 53-man roster on Tuesday to make room for DL Terdell Sands. To make room on the eight-man practice squad for Burgess, New England released DL Adrian Grady.
Burgess, 6-3, 247 pounds, was acquired by New England on Sept. 22, 2009, in a trade with Baltimore for an undisclosed draft choice. He was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Ravens in 2007 out of Michigan. Burgess saw action in eight games as a rookie, posting seven special teams tackles before ending the year on injured reserve due to a hip injury. He spent the entire 2008 season on injured reserve with a forearm injury that occurred during the preseason. Burgess saw action in Baltimore's first two games of the 2009 season and was inactive last Sunday against Atlanta for New England.
Grady, 6-1, 290 pounds, was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as a rookie free agent out of Louisville on April 30, 2009. He was waived by the Colts in their final cuts and signed to the New England practice squad on September 7
