FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots waived linebacker Eric Alexander today. The second-year veteran had been signed to the active roster from the practice squad on Saturday, Oct. 8 and participated on special teams in the Patriots' 31-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons the following day.
Alexander, 23, was originally signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2004. The 6-foot-2-inch, 240-pound linebacker has played in four career NFL games and has recorded two special teams tackles. He was a member of the practice squad for the first four weeks of the 2005 season. As a rookie in 2004, Alexander was a member of the practice squad for the first 14 weeks of season before being signed to the active roster on Dec. 20, 2004. He played in the final three games of the 2004 regular season before being placed on injured reserve on Jan. 13, 2005.
