Patriots Football Weekly has created a weekly Power Ranking based on the proprietary Wilson-Hart Power Index. The system uses the most important statistics in the game — those most closely associated to winning and losing — to rank all 32 NFL teams based on their performance to date this season.
There was once again very little movement this week atop the Wilson-Hart Power Index. The top two spots remain unchanged for the No. 1 Seahawks and No. 2 Saints. In fact the top seven teams remain the same, with the only change coming as the Panthers moved up a spot to No. 3 after the home victory over the Patriots, swapping slots with the Chiefs, who drop to No. 4 after their first loss of the season.
New England remains No. 5 for the second straight week, followed by the 49ers at No. 6 and Broncos at No. 7.
The Bengals jumped up to the No. 8 spot as the highest riser of the week, moving up five spots. On the other side of the coin the Lions were the biggest faller, dropping five positions to No. 13 to swap positions with Cincinnati over the course of the weekend of action that included a loss to the Steelers.
As has been the case most of the season the Jaguars remain in the basement of the Index. Maybe the most notable team near the bottom of the Wilson-Hart Power Index is the Jets, at No. 30 overall after a hellacious loss to the Bills. This came a week after New York fans vociferously complained via Twitter about their team ranking No. 26 despite a 5-4 record. Now, they're even lower despite a 5-5 mark as a team that just can't do anything at an impressive level.
Stay tuned as the NFL season turns the corner on November and begins to shake out down the stretch. The Wilson-Hart Power Index will be here each week to put the action in statistical perspective.
