The New England Patriots return to action this week when they travel to face the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. The Patriots are 2-0 in AFC East play so far this season with a 38-7 win vs. Miami on Sept. 30 and a 25-6 win at Buffalo on Oct. 29.
The Patriots have gone 17 straight seasons without being swept in a season series by a division opponent and can extend that mark to 18 seasons with a win over the Jets. It is the longest such streak since the 1970 merger. Dallas has the second longest streak with 13 seasons (1971-83).
SERIES HISTORY
The New England Patriots and New York Jets will meet for the 119th time, including three postseason games, since the series between the AFC East rivals began in 1960. It will be the first of two meetings in 2018. For the second straight year, the Patriots will close out the season when they host the Jets on Dec. 30 at Gillette Stadium.
New England earned its 18th series sweep over the Jets last season with a 24-17 win at MetLife Stadium on Oct. 15, followed by a 26-6 victory at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 31.
New England leads the series 63-54-1 overall. The Patriots are 29-29 all-time on the road against the Jets, including 5-3 at MetLife Stadium. New England is 34-25-1 all-time against the Jets at home, including 1-1 at home in the postseason and 13-3 at Gillette Stadium in the regular season.
The teams have played in the postseason three times – a 1985 Wild Card game, a 2006 Wild Card game and an AFC Divisional game in 2010. New England beat the Jets, 26-14, in 1985 at the Meadowlands en route to Super Bowl XX. In 2006, the Patriots defeated the Jets, 37-16, at Gillette Stadium and the Jets beat the Patriots, 28-21, in the 2010 Divisional playoff game in Foxborough.
New England is 34-16 against the Jets since Robert Kraft purchased the team in 1994.
New England's 63 overall victories over the Jets (including two playoff wins) are the second most over any single opponent, trailing only the 73 all-time wins over Buffalo.

The New England Patriots enter this week's game with a chance to lock up at least a .500 record for the 18th consecutive season. The Patriots are the only NFL team to finish with a record of .500 or better in each of the last 17 seasons (2001-17). Each of the other 31 NFL teams has had at least one losing season since 2001. The Patriots are currently tied with the Cleveland Browns (1957-73) for the second-longest streak at .500 or better, behind the Dallas Cowboys' (1965-85) streak of 21 straight years.
IF THE PATRIOTS WIN...
- The team will guarantee a .500 or better record for the 18th consecutive season, the second-longest streak in NFL history. The Patriots are already the only team in the NFL to finish with a record of .500 or better in each of the last 17 years (2001-17). Pittsburgh is second with 14.
- The Patriots will look to extend their streak to 18 straight seasons without being swept by a division opponent. Their current streak of 17 such seasons in the longest since the 1970 NFL merger.
- The Patriots will earn their 101st win on the road since 2000, improving to 101-49 (.673). They will also improve to 124-74 (.626) since the start of the 1994 season when Robert Kraft purchased the team, which is the best regular-season road record in the NFL in that time.
- Bill Belichick will improve his all-time regular season record against the AFC East as head coach of the Patriots to 86-29 (.748) and improve his mark against the Jets to 28-11 (.718).
- Tom Brady will earn his 26th regular season victory against the Jets, improving his record as a starter to 26-6 (.813). He will become the only quarterback with at least 26 wins against two different teams.

- With 252 passing yards against the Jets, Tom Brady will reach 3,000 yards passing this season, hitting that milestone for the 16th time in his career. He will join Peyton Manning and Brett Favre as the only quarterbacks to record 16 or more seasons of 3,000 yards passing.
- Tom Brady needs 4 yards rushing to reach 1,000 rushing yards in his career.
- If Tom Brady throws three touchdown passes, he will tie Peyton Manning for most career touchdowns all-time (regular and postseason) with 579. Brady already owns the NFL record for most touchdown passes with one team.
- With three touchdown passes, Brady will also will tie Brett Favre for third-most regular season touchdown passes with 508. Peyton Manning is first with 539 touchdown passes and Drew Brees is second with 513.
- With 34 receiving yards against the Jets, Julian Edelman will reach 5,000 receiving yards in his career, becoming just the eighth receiver in franchise history to reach that mark.

- If Sony Michel records a 100-yard rushing game against the Jets, it will be the third such game for him this year. Robert Edwards is the last Patriots rookie to have multiple 100-yard games in his rookie year, when he tallied four in 1998. Curtis Martin holds the franchise record with nine 100-yard rushing games in his rookie season (1995).
