FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed rookie OL Chase Farris to the practice squad.Â
In addition, the Patriots released rookie LB Quentin Gause from the practice squad. Gause was signed by New England to the practice squad on Sept. 7, 2016.Â
Farris, 23, was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as a rookie free agent out of Ohio State on May 6, 2016. The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder, was released by Detroit on Aug. 29, 2016 and spent a couple of weeks on the Lions practice squad before being released on Sept. 21, 2016. Farris began his college career as a defensive lineman and transitioned to the offensive line following his sophomore season. He was a starter at right tackle during his senior season at Ohio State in 2015.Â
Gause, 23, originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie free agent out of Rutgers on May 5, 2016. The 6-foot, 243-pounder, was released by Philadelphia on Sept. 3, and initially signed to the practice squad on Sept. 5 before being released on Sept. 6. He played in 51 college games with 24 starts and finished with 223 total tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.
