FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today the signing of fifth-round draft choice P Zoltan Mesko. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Mesko, a punter from Michigan, was selected by the Patriots in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 150th selection overall.
Mesko is the fifth member of New England's 12 2010 draft choices to sign with the team, joining third-round pick WR Taylor Price, fourth-round pick TE Aaron Hernandez, sixth-round pick OL Ted Larsen and seventh-round pick OL Thomas Welch.
Mesko, 6-5, 231-pounds, was a four-year letterman at Michigan and became the first special team player in school history to be elected a team captain. His 42.5-yard career average while at Michigan ranks second in school history.
