FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Behind 339 yards and three touchdown passes from quarterback Tom Brady, the Patriots improved to 3-0 in the NFL's International Series with a 33-8 victory over the Oakland Raiders at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico. The highly anticipated international matchup met expectations amongst the local television audience, delivering the second-highest household rating of the 2017 campaign, behind only the Super Bowl LI rematch versus the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7.
The 37.2 local household rating was the highest non-primetime rating of the 2017 campaign, up 4.8 percent from 2016's Week 11 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the same time slot. In total viewers, the game averaged 1,489,600 viewers, peaking at 7:00 p.m. with 1,599,700 viewers despite a substantial Patriot lead throughout the second half. The 37.2 rating was the highest-rated television program of the past week in the Boston market. By comparison, that number more than tripled TNT's Thursday night primetime broadcast of the Boston Celtics come-from-behind victory over the defending champion Golden State Warriors, which delivered an 11.2 household rating in the local market.
Next week the Patriots will welcome the Miami Dolphins to Gillette Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff on Sunday, November 26. The game will be broadcast locally on WBZ with Ian Eagle handling play-by-play duties accompanied by color commentary from Dan Fouts.
