FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - In anticipation of tomorrow's NFL-mandatory cut to a 53-man roster, the New England Patriots announced that OL Eric Ghiaciuc and DL Damione Lewis have been released.
Ghiaciuc, 6-4, 303 pounds, was signed by the Patriots on August 4, 2010. He is a veteran of five NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals (2005-08) and San Diego Chargers (2009). He originally joined Cincinnati as a fourth-round draft pick in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Central Michigan.
Lewis, 6-2, 301 pounds, was signed by the Patriots on April 10, 2010. A veteran of nine NFL seasons with the St. Louis Rams (2001-05) and the Carolina Panthers (2006-09), Lewis originally joined St. Louis as a first-round draft choice (12th overall) out of Miami in 2001.
