FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - An average of 1,257,600 viewers tuned in to FOX's broadcast on Sunday to see the Patriots capture a 27-10 victory over the Washington Redskins. The win improved their record to a still unblemished 8-0 mark. The game delivered a 34.8 household rating locally and a market share of 66, peaking at 3:15 p.m. with a 39.0 rating and a 71-share. It was the highest-rated broadcast in the Boston market for the week.
The second-highest rated program was the late afternoon game following the Patriots victory, featuring the previously undefeated Denver Broncos at the Indianapolis Colts, which garnered an impressive 18.0 household rating and a market share of 30 in the Boston market. The third-highest rated program of the week was CBS' "60 Minutes," which delivered a 15.0 household rating and a market share of 22.
With a market share of 66, the Patriots victory on Sunday surpassed all three of the Patriots primetime matchups thus far through nine weeks, including two of the most highly anticipated games of the season – the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the much-discussed AFC Championship rematch against the Indianapolis Colts, both resulting in New England victories.
The undefeated New England Patriots play the New York Giants this Sunday on the road at MetLife Stadium in a game broadcast locally on WBZ-TV in Boston. Jim Nantz will call play-by-play with Phil Simms providing color commentary for the matchup, with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET. The last time the Giants hosted the Patriots during the regular season was on Dec. 29, 2007. The Patriots were undefeated at the time and claimed a hard-fought 38-35 victory to close out the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record. That game registered a 50.1 rating and a 75 share and remains the highest rated regular season game in franchise history.
