INDIVIDUAL NOTES  

JIMMY GAROPPOLO MAKES THE START
Jimmy Garoppolo started at quarterback and played the first two drives in the third quarter. He finished 22-of-28 for 235 yards with two touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 125.4. He threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to WR Austin Carr in the second quarter and a 5-yard touchdown pass to K.J. Maye in the third quarter. 

JACOBY BRISSETT ENTERED THE GAME IN THE THIRD QUARTER
QB Jacoby Brissett entered the game the third quarter and played the rest of the way. He finished 8-of-13 for 88 yards. 

THREE VETS MAKE THEIR DEBUT IN A PATRIOTS UNIFORM
Of the 11 veteran players that are new to the Patriots in 2017, three saw their first action in a Patriots uniform. Those veterans were: DL Kony Ealy, OL James Ferentz and WR Tony Washington. 

THREE OF THE PATRIOTS 2017 DRAFT PICKS SAW ACTION; FOURTH-ROUND PICK DL DEATRICH WISE, JR. STARTS
Three of the four 2017 Draft picks made their NFL debuts: Third-round draft pick DE Derek Rivers, fourth-round pick Deatrich Wise, Jr., and sixth-round draft pick OL Conor McDermott. Deatrich Wise, Jr. was in the starting lineup at defensive end. He assisted on two tackles. 

STARTING BLOCKS
The Patriots had seven rookies in the starting lineup. With Deatrich Wise, Jr., rookie free agents DL Adam Butler, WR Austin Carr, OL Cole Croston, TE Jacob Hollister, LB Harvey Langi and S Damarius Travis in the starting lineup, New England has now had at least one rookie in the starting lineup in the preseason opener for nine straight years. 

PATRIOTS ROOKIES IN THE STARTING LINEUP
2017 – fourth-round pick DL Deatrich Wise, Jr., DL Adam Butler, WR Austin Carr, OL Cole Croston, TE Jacob Hollister, LB Harvey Langi and S Damarius Travis 
2016 – second-round pick CB Cyrus Jones and third-round pick OL Joe Thuney. 
2015 – first-round pick DL Malcom Brown, fourth-round picks OL Tre' Jackson and OL Shaq Mason, seventh-round pick DB Darryl Roberts and rookie free agent OL David Andrews. 
2014 – rookie free agents TE Asa Watson and CB Malcolm Butler
2013 – second-round WR Aaron Dobson
2012 - first-round picks DE Chandler Jones and LB Dont'a Hightower . 
2011 - first-round pick T Nate Solder and fifth-round pick TE Lee Smith
2010 - first-round pick CB Devin McCourty and second-round pick LB Brandon Spikes started against on defense, while second-round pick TE Rob Gronkowski and fourth-round pick TE Aaron Hernandez started on offense. 
2009 – sixth-round pick DL Myron Pryor

RB BRANDON BOLDEN HAS A 20-YARD RUN
RB Brandon Bolden had a 24-yard run in the first quarter. He has had two 20-yard runs during his career. He had a 27 yard run at Buffalo on Sept. 30, 2012, as a rookie and a 46-yard run vs. Tampa Bay on Sept. 22, 2013. 

BOLDEN HAS A 20-YARD RECEPTION
Bolden had a 20-yard reception in the second quarter. His only reception of 20 yards or more was a 63-yard touchdown reception at Denver on Nov. 29, 2015. 

AUSTIN CARR SCORES FIRST NFL TOUCHDOWN
Rookie WR Austin Carr scored on a 3-yard touchdown pass from QB Jimmy Garoppolo in the second quarter on a leaping grab in the back of the end zone. He finished the game with five receptions for 44 yards. 

ROOKIE TE JACOB HOLLISTER GOES OVER 100 YARDS RECEIVING
Rookie TE Jacob Hollister led the team with seven receptions for 116 yards. He had a 38-yard reception during the first drive of the third quarter to help the Patriots get in position for a touchdown. 

P RYAN ALLEN PUNTED 50 YARDS ON ALL THREE PUNTS
P Ryan Allen averaged 51 yards on three punts, with punts of 50, 53 and 50 yards.
