FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have activated QB Jacoby Brissett to the 53-man roster. In addition, the Patriots have released rookie DL Woodrow Hamilton.
Brissett, 23, was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 7, 2016. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder, played in three games and started two, completing 34-of-55 passes for 400 yards. He also had 16 rushing attempts for 83 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown run. Brissett was drafted by New England in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the 91st selection overall out of North Carolina State.
Hamilton, 23, was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Mississippi on May 6, 2016. The 6-foot-3, 315-pounder, was released on Sept. 3, and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 5. He was signed to the 53-man roster on Oct. 8, 2016. Hamilton played in two games with one start and had four solo tackles. He started his first game at Cleveland on Oct. 9, 2016.
