Patriots Claim Four Players and Release Four Players

The New England Patriots announced today that they have claimed four players off waivers.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have claimed four players off waivers. The Patriots claimed LB Curtis Jacobs off waivers from Kansas City, T Demontrey Jacobs off waivers from Denver, DT Eric Johnson off waivers from Indianapolis and T Zach Thomas off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams. To make room on the roster, the Patriots released CB Isaiah Bolden, DT Trysten Hill, G Michael Jordan and WR Jalen Reagor.

Curtis Jacobs, 22, was signed by Kansas City as a rookie free agent out of Penn State on May 5, 2024. The 6-foot-1, 241-pounder, started all 13 games and finished with 50 total tackles, 2½ sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and earned All-Big Ten honorable mention honors during his last college season. He was released by Kansas City on Aug. 27, 2024.

Demontrey Jacobs, 25, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Denver on May 12, 2023, out of South Florida. The 6-foot-6, 315-pounder, spent his rookie season on the practice squad and was released by Denver on Aug. 27, 2024.

Johnson, 26, was drafted by Indianapolis in the fifth-round (159th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Missouri State. The 6-foot-4, 299-pounder, appeared in 28 games and finished with 18 total tackles, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery over the last two seasons.

Thomas, 26, originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (186th overall) of the Chicago Bears in the 2022 NFL Draft out of San Diego State. The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder, began his rookie season on the practice squad before being signed by the Los Angeles Rams to the 53-man roster from the Chicago practice squad on Nov. 18, 2022. He saw action in one game in 2022. Thomas spent part of the 2023 season on the practice squad and the 53-man roster for the Rams and saw action in two games. He was released by the Rams on Aug. 27, 2024.

Bolden, 24, was drafted by New England in the seventh-round (245th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Jackson State. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, spent his rookie season on injured reserve.

Hill, 26, originally was drafted by Dallas in the second-round (58th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Central Florida. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder played with Dallas and Arizona in 2022 and spent part of the 2023 season on the practice squads of Cleveland and New England. Overall, he has played in 32 games with five starts and has 39 total tackles and 1½ sacks.

Jordan, 26, was signed by New England to a futures contract on Jan. 24, 2024. The 6-foot-6, 315-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (136th overall) by Cincinnati in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He has played with Cincinnati (2019-20), Carolina (2021-22) and then spent the 2023 season on the Green Bay practice squad. Overall, he has played in 55 games with 29 starts.

Reagor, 25, spent last season on the New England practice squad and 53-man roster, seeing action in 11 games with one start and finishing with 7 receptions for 138 yards and 7 kickoffs for 221 yards, including a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The 5-foot-11, 197-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick (21st overall) by Philadelphia in the 2020 NFL Draft out of TCU. He was traded by Philadelphia to Minnesota prior to the 2022 season. Overall, he has played in 56 games with 25 starts and has 79 receptions for 937 yards and 4 touchdowns and has returned 19 kicks for 476 yards with 1 touchdown.
