FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that LB Ochaun Mathis (pronounced OH-shawn) has been signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. In addition, the Patriots signed WR Braylon Sanders to the practice squad.
Mathis, 25, was signed by New England to the practice squad on Aug. 30, 2024. The 6-foot-5, 250-pounder, was elevated to the active roster for three games in 2024 and saw action on special teams and at linebacker. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (250th overall) of the Los Angeles Rams in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Nebraska. He played in eight games as a rookie and finished with 2 total tackles. Mathis was released by the Rams on Aug. 25, 2024.
Sanders, 25, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Miami Dolphins out of Mississippi on May 13, 2022. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder, spent the last two seasons on the Miami practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster for three games in 2022 and finished with 2 receptions for 17 yards. Sanders went to training camp with Miami this past summer, but was released on Sept. 4, 2024.
