Patriots Make A Series of Transactions

The Patriots announced today that they have signed C Lecitus Smith to the 53-man roster from the Green Bay practice squad. In addition, the Patriots signed CB Miles Battle to the practice squad and released C Sincere Haynesworth from the practice squad.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed C Lecitus Smith (pronounced – luh-SEET-us) to the 53-man roster from the Green Bay practice squad. In addition, the Patriots signed CB Miles Battle to the practice squad and released C Sincere Haynesworth from the practice squad.

Smith, 26, originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (215th overall) by Arizona in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-3, 314-pounder, played in 10 games with two starts at right guard as a rookie. Smith was released by Arizona at the end of training camp last season and spent the 2023 season on the practice squads of Houston and Philadelphia. He signed with Green Bay in the spring and began the 2024 season on the practice squad for the Packers.

Battle, 24, was originally signed by Kansas City as a rookie free agent out of Utah on May 5, 2024. The 6-foot-3, 197-pounder, was released by Kansas City on Aug. 26, 2024. Battle played one season at Utah (2023) after beginning his college career at Mississippi (2018-22). He played in all 13 games with two starts last season at Utah and finished with 32 total tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception. Battle began his college career as a wide receiver before being moved to cornerback midway through the 2020 season.

Haynesworth, 23, was signed by New England to the practice squad on Oct. 8, 2024. He was originally signed by New Orleans as a rookie free agent out of Tulane on April 29, 2024. The 6-foot-1, 300-pounder, was released by the Saints on Aug 28, 2024. Haynesworth was a five-year starter at center for Tulane.
