Patriots Make A Series of Roster Moves

The Patriots announced today CB Alex Austin has been placed on injured reserve and CB Isaiah Bolden has been signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. In addition, DT Trysten Hill and TE Mitchell Wilcox have been elevated to the active roster from the practice squad.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today CB Alex Austin has been placed on injured reserve and CB Isaiah Bolden has been signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. In addition, DT Trysten Hill and TE Mitchell Wilcox have been elevated to the active roster from the practice squad.

Bolden, 24, was originally drafted by New England in the seventh-round (245th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Jackson State. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder, spent his rookie season in injured reserve after suffering an injury during the preseason. He was released by New England on Aug. 28, 2024 and signed to the practice squad on Aug. 30, 2024.

Hill, 26, was elevated for the second time in 2024. He was elevated for the season-opener at Cincinnati on Sept. 8 and saw limited action on the defensive line. Hill originally was drafted by Dallas in the second-round (58th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Central Florida. The 6-foot-3, 310-pounder played with Dallas and Arizona in 2022 and spent part of the 2023 season on the practice squads of Cleveland and New England. Overall, he has played in 33 games with five starts and has 39 total tackles and 1½ sacks. He was elevated to the active roster for the game vs. Buffalo on Oct. 22 last season and saw limited action on defense. Hill was released by New England on Aug. 28 and signed to the practice squad on Aug. 29.

Wilcox, 27, was signed by New England as an unrestricted free agent from Cincinnati on April 22, 2024. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder, originally signed with Cincinnati on April 27, 2020, as a rookie free agent out of South Florida. He spent the majority of the 2020 season on the practice squad before being signed to the 53-man roster on Jan. 1, 2020. He has played in 48 regular season games with nine starts and has 29 receptions for 211 yards with 1 touchdown. Wilcox has played in seven postseason games and has added 2 receptions for 29 yards.
