FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have signed K Josh Gable, DL Eric Lee and DB Adarius Pickett to the practice squad. Lee spent part of the 2017 season with New England after being signed off the Buffalo practice squad.
Gable, 29, did not play college football and played professional soccer in both Italy and Belgium before returning to the United States in 2016 to kick for the Nebraska Danger, Iowa Barnstormers and Tucson Sugar Skulls in the Indoor Football League. In 2019 for the Sugar Skulls, Gable successfully converted 6-of-16 field goals and 50-of-57 extra points.
Lee, 25, was signed by New England to the 53-man roster from the Buffalo practice squad on Nov. 21, 2017. The 6-foot-3, 260-pounder appeared in six regular-season games with three starts with the Patriots and totaled 19 tackles, 3½ sacks and two passes defensed. Lee played in three postseason contests with one start and made four tackles.
He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Houston Texans on May 6, 2016, out of South Florida. Lee spent his rookie season on the Houston practice squad and was released by the Texans prior to the start of the 2017 regular season. Lee joined the Buffalo Bills practice squad on Sept. 5, and was added to the 53-man roster on Sept. 29. He was released on Oct. 3 and re-joined the Buffalo practice squad on Oct. 5. After being released by the Patriots on Sept. 2, 2018, Lee joined the Detroit practice squad. He eventually was signed to the 53-man roster and played in nine games and finished with six tackles. Lee began the 2019 season on the Detroit practice squad before being released on Oct. 9.
Pickett, 23, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Chicago Bears out of UCLA on May 3, 2019, before being released on May 7. The 5-foot-11, 198-pounder was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers on May 16, 2019, and began the season on the team's practice squad before being released on Oct. 1. He appeared in 50 games (2015-18) at UCLA and finished his career with 274 total tackles and seven interceptions.
