Evan Rothstein enters his fourth season with the New England Patriots and first as assistant quarterbacks coach/director of game management. He joined the Patriots in a research and analysis/coaching role before moving into an offensive assistant role the following year.
Following the 2022 season, Rothstein served as the running backs coach for the West team in the East-West Shrine Bowl, assisting the team to a 12-3 victory.
He joined New England after nine seasons with the Detroit Lions. Rothstein joined the Lions organization in 2012 and worked two seasons as the team's special teams quality control coach before becoming the team's special projects coach in 2014. Rothstein was then promoted to an offensive assistant/research & analysis role from 2015-17, followed by two-plus seasons as the team's head coach assistant/research & analyst. From 2018-20, Rothstein worked with the coaching staff in all facets of preparation for the team's weekly opponents, in addition to assisting head coach Matt Patricia.
Rothstein arrived in Detroit after spending two seasons (2010-11) as the offensive quality control coach for Syracuse. Rothstein interned with the Syracuse video operations department during the fall of 2009 before briefly returning to SUNY Cortland as their offensive line coach for the spring of 2010. He then returned to the Syracuse football staff as their offensive line quality control coach in July of 2010.
As an undergraduate at SUNY Cortland, Rothstein began his coaching career with the Red Dragons where he served as the student assistant coach, quality control and director of video operations from 2006-09.
A native of Merrick, N.Y., Rothstein attended Bellmore John F. Kennedy High School, earning recognition as a National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete. Rothstein graduated from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor of science in sport management in 2009 and a master of science in sport management in 2012. He and his wife, Carol, have two daughters, Emma and Jacqueline, and one son, Ryan.
