T.C. McCartney was hired by New England as quarterbacks coach in 2024 after spending four seasons with the Cleveland Browns as an offensive assistant and most recently as the tight ends coach.
Prior to Cleveland, McCartney spent a season in 2019 at the Broncos as quarterbacks coach, overseeing rookie Drew Lock who finished with a 4-1 record as a starter, tied with John Elway for the most wins by a rookie quarterback in team history.
McCartney spent two seasons (2017-18) in San Francisco as an offensive assistant/quality control coach for the 49ers.
Returning to his alma mater, McCartney worked as an offensive assistant at Louisiana State in 2016.
His first NFL position was with the Cleveland Browns as an offensive assistant coach in 2014, followed by a season as an offensive assistant/quality control coach with the San Francisco 49ers in 2015.
Following graduating in 2010, McCartney stayed at LSU to begin his coaching career as a graduate assistant and offensive assistant coach for the 2011 season, and then worked in the same role at the University of Colorado from 2012-13.
McCartney played quarterback at LSU from 2007-10 and was part of the 2007 National Championship team.
McCartney was born on April 24, 1989, in Boulder, Colo. He is the son of the late Sal Aunese, a former quarterback for Colorado and Kristy McCartney, the daughter of former Colorado head coach Bill McCartney. His grandfather is the winningest football coach in Colorado history. McCartney earned a degree from LSU in sport leadership.
