Taylor Embree joins the Patriots as running backs coach following three seasons in the same position at the New York Jets (2001-23).
Prior to that, he spent a year coaching tight ends at Colorado (2020). He entered the NFL as a defensive assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs (2016), working with a Kansas City defense that led the NFL with 104 passes defensed and tied for the most interceptions (18). Embree also spent three seasons as an offensive quality control coach at the San Francisco 49ers (2017-19), working with tight ends and the offensive line.
Embree started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UNLV in 2012 and continued in the same role at his alma mater, UCLA, from 2013-14.
Embree played college football for UCLA from 2008-11, starting 32 games and playing in 50. He led the Bruins in receiving as a sophomore and junior, while also setting a program record for most receptions by a true freshman in 2018. Embree spent training camp with the San Diego Chargers in 2013 before beginning his coaching career.
Embree was born in Denver, Colo. and is the oldest son of Jon Embree, who is currently the assistant head coach and tight ends coach for the Miami Dolphins. His younger brother, Connor, is currently the wide receivers coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. Embree and his wife, Kristina, have four kids.
