Tiquan Underwood joins the Patriots as assistant wide receivers coach in 2024. He spent six seasons coaching at the collegiate and NFL level following an eight-year playing career in the NFL and CFL, including a stint with New England in 2011.
Underwood most recently spent two seasons as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh (2022-23). Prior to that, he was the wide receivers coach at his alma mater, Rutgers, (2020-21). His first NFL coaching job came as the offensive quality control coach with the Miami Dolphins in 2019, after a season coaching wide receivers at Lafayette in 2018.
Underwood began his playing career after he was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round (253rd pick overall) of the 2009 NFL draft out of Rutgers. He spent two seasons in Jacksonville before playing a season in New England in 2011. He spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012-13) and spent training camp with the Carolina Panthers in 2014 before playing three seasons in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2015-16) and Montreal Alouettes (2016-17).
Tiquan Underwood is a native of New Brunswick, N.J., and graduated from Rutgers with a bachelor's degree in sociology. He and his wife, Samantha, have three daughters: Thai, Kali and Skye.
