Tras ir en desventaja por 5 puntos con solo 7 segundos para el final, los Dolphins prácticamente vencidos intentan una de esas jugadas que resultan una vez en un millón.
Pase corto del QB Ryan Tannehill (desde su yarda 31) al WR Kenny Stills, este llega hasta la 45 y con un lateral se la pasa al WR Devante Parker quien avanza 3 yardas antes de pasarle otro lateral al RB Kenyan Drake. Defensivamente las cosas no resultaron como se esperaba. Miami combinó un acertado juego aéreo con Tannehill completando 14 de 19 pases para 265 yardas, 3 TDs. Vale señalar que el QB de Miami fue capturado en 5 ocasiones.
Miami complementó su juego aéreo con un juego de carrera que no pudo ser controlado por New England. El veterano RB Frank Gore (12 acarreos, 92 yardas) lideró un eficiente juego por tierra que terminó con 189 yardas en total.
Vale señalar que el pateador de New England, Stephen Gostkowski erró un punto extra y una patada de gol de campo. Un total de 4 puntos que al final del partido repercutió en el marcador final.
Los Patriots (9-4) regresan a New England con un escenario de playoffs que se complica ya que esta derrota los pone a 2 juegos del líder de la conferencia, los Kansas City (11-2), a solo 3 fechas del final de la temporada regular.
