En una tarde lluviosa en Nueva Inglaterra, los Patriots lograron su octava victoria al hilo tras vencer 27-13 a los Cleveland Browns.
Un triunfo que -como en oportunidades anteriores- tuvo como protagonista a la defensiva de New England, grupo que recuperó el balón para su equipo en 3 marchas ofensivas consecutivas, durante el primer cuarto de juego.
En la primera, el DT Lawrence Guy despoja al RB Nick Chubb del balón, el cual es recuperado por Dont'a Hightower quien lo lleva hasta la zona de anotación para sumar el primer TD del partido.
Luego otra vez el RB Chubb es forzado por Jonathan Jones a soltar el balón, el cual es recuperado por Devin McCourty en la yarda 4 de New England.
En la siguiente marcha, volvería a ser el DT Lawrence Guy quien intercepta un pase del QB Baker Mayfield y lo lleva hasta la yarda 11 de los visitantes.
Al final de su actuación, la defensa limitó al QB Mayfield a completar 20 de 31 pases para 194 yardas, 1 TD, 1 INT y 5 capturas.
Los autores de esas capturas fueron: Jamie Collins (1.5), Adam Butler (2), Kyle Van Noy (1) y Chase Winovich (.5). El QB visitante también recibió 7 golpes.
Los Browns sí lograron efectividad a la hora de correr el balón. Su principal RB Nick Chubb sumó 131 yardas en 20 corridas. Al final, el grupo de RB visitantes logró 159 yardas en 22 corridas.
Ofensivamente las cosas no funcionaron del todo bien. A pesar que Brady completó 20 de 36 pases para 259 yardas y 2 TD, no se vio una ofensiva dominante y segura. Por momentos mostrándose con pocas ideas.
Eso sí, Brady contó con una buena participación de Julian Edelman (8 de 11 para 78 yardas y 2 TDs), al igual se vio el debut del WR Mohamed Sanu (2 de 5 pases para 23 yardas).
El juego de carrera liderado por Sony Michel (74 yardas en 21 carreras) no tuvo mayor relevancia, sumando un total de 79 yardas en 27 carreras.
Vale mencionar que el pateador Mike Nugent anotó 2 FG (20 y 29 yardas) y falló otros 2 (29 yardas bloqueado y fallado de 34).

Ahora los Patriots volverán a hacer maletas para enfrentarse el próximo 3 de noviembre a los Ravens de Baltimore.
