Esta tarde los New England Patriots regresaron a las acciones y también a los triunfos, al imponerse 27-13 frente a los Jets de New York.
Un partido balanceado con un variado juego aéreo de Brady que tuvo como novedad el regreso de Rob Gronkowski, ausente desde el partido frente a los Bills de la semana 8, debido a una molestia a la espalda.
La presencia de Gronkowski se dejó notar, el TE logró 3 recepciones para 56 yardas y 1 TD en su partido de regreso. No solo Gronkowski fue instrumental en la victoria, el WR Julian Edelman lideró el ataque aéreo con 4 recepciones para 84 yardas y 1 TD.
Josh Gordon (5 recepciones, 70 yardas) y Chris Hogan (2 recepciones, 47 yardas) también hicieron contribuciones claves en momentos importantes del partido.
Al final, el QB Tom Brady acabó su participación completando 20 de 31 pases para 283 yardas y 2 TDs, sin ser capturado o interceptado durante todo el partido.
Vale mencionar el regreso del guardia derecho Shaq Mason (lesión a la pantorrilla), lo cual contribuyó a una mejor actuación de una línea ofensiva que cuido a su QB y que logró abrir agujeros paras sus corredores.
Una ofensiva de New England que tuvo como novedad el uso efectivo de su juego de carrera, un juego terrestre que por momentos tomó la iniciativa, logrando avanzar y mover las cadenas con aplomo. Sony Michel lució en buen estado físico y lo reflejó en sus 21 acarreos para 133 yardas y 1 TD. Casi a inicios del tercer cuarto del partido el RB salió del campo tras lo que parecía ser una seria lesión (presumiblemente en la espalda), sin embargo, el novato regresó y siguió aportando efectivamente.
Contrario a otras ocasiones donde su contribución se centró en el juego aéreo, el RB James White puso énfasis en su juego de acarreo, corriendo en 9 ocasiones para 73 yardas.
Defensivamente podríamos decir que la defensa de New England despertó en la segunda mitad.
Después de haber cedido 10 puntos en los primeros 2 cuartos de juego, la defensa realizó ajustes para limitar al QB Josh McCown a 11 de 23 pases para 97 yardas (además de 2 capturas) durante la segunda mitad.
El juego terrestre de los Jets no fue factor importante, sumando 74 yardas en 15 corridas.
Resumiendo:
Un juego que no fue perfecto pero que tuvo contribuciones importantes como el del juego de carrera y de ajustes efectivos por parte de la defensa en la segunda mitad, dos áreas que necesitaban hacerse presente, igualmente fue una buena noticia ver efectividad en el juego aéreo de Brady con el regreso de Gronkowski y con las buenas actuaciones del grupo en general.
Ahora los Patriots regresan a casa y se preparan para recibir el próximo domingo a los Vikings de Minnesota
