FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced that they have placed FB Jakob Johnson on injured reserve.
Johnson, 24, was signed by New England as a free agent on April 8, 2019, as part of the NFL's International Pathway Program. After beginning the season on the practice squad, Johnson was signed to the 53-man roster on Sept. 21. He played in four games with three starts and caught one pass for 5 yards.
Born in Germany, the 6-foor-3, 255-pounder played collegiately at Tennessee, where began his college career as a linebacker before moving to tight end as a sophomore. Johnson spent the 2018 season in the German Football League with the Stuttgart Scorpions, appearing in 12 games and totaling 43 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns.
