FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have released 27 players and placed four players on injured reserve. The Patriots placed the following players on injured reserve: C David Andrews, OL Hjalte Froholdt, DB Malik Gant and DL Derek Rivers. In addition, New England also placed OL Yodny Cajuste on the reserve/non-football injury list and WR Cameron Meredith on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

The Patriots released 27 players: TE Stephen Anderson, TE Andrew Beck, WR Braxton Berrios, RB Nick Brossette, OL Cole Croston, WR Ryan Davis, OL James Ferentz, OL Tyler Gauthier, LB Terez Hall, DL Trent Harris, DB A.J. Howard, QB Brian Hoyer, OL Martez Ivey, FB Jakob Johnson, DL Ufomba Kamalu, OL Cedrick Lang, LB Calvin Munson, DL David Parry, WR Damoun Patterson, LB Christian Sam, TE Eric Saubert, OL Dan Skipper, OL Tyree St. Louis, WR Demaryius Thomas, DL Nick Thurman, DB Ken Webster, and LB Scooby Wright III.

Anderson, 26, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Houston Texans out of California on May 6, 2016. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder played in 28 regular-season games with five starts over two seasons in Houston and totaled 36 receptions for 435 yards and two touchdowns. Anderson also appeared in two 2016 postseason contests and did not accrue any statistics. He was released by Houston on Sept. 1, 2018, and signed by New England to the practice squad on Sept. 6, 2018. He joined the 53-man roster during last year's postseason and was inactive for all three games.

Beck, 23, was signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Texas on May 2, 2019. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder played in 51 games with 30 starts at Texas and finished his career with 40 receptions for 440 yards and four touchdowns. Beck moved from linebacker to tight end prior to the 2014 season.

Berrios, 23, was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth-round (210th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Miami. The 5-foot-9, 190-pounder suffered an injury in training camp as a rookie and was placed on injured reserve prior to the start of the regular season.

Brossette, 23, signed with the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Louisiana State on May 2, 2019. The 6-foot, 221-pounder was a four-year letter winner at running back for Louisiana State, rushing for 1,350 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a senior in 2018, he played in 13 games with 11 starts and finished with 1,039 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

Croston, 26, was originally signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Iowa on May 5, 2017. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder has appeared in five regular-season games and two playoff contests as a reserve for the Patriots over the past two seasons. Last year, Croston split time between the 53-man roster and the practice squad, making two regular-season appearances.

Davis, 22, signed with New England as a rookie free agent out of Auburn on May 2, 2019. The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder is the career receptions leader for Auburn with 178 receptions and his 14th in school history with 1,555 receiving yards. Davis had 69 receptions for 546 yards and one touchdown as a senior in 2018.

Ferentz, 30, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Houston Texans out of Iowa in 2014. The 6-foot-2, 300-pounder has appeared in 23 regular-season games and one postseason contest over his five-year career with Houston (2014), Denver (2015-16) and New England (2017-18). Ferentz spent the 2017 season on the Patriots practice squad. Last year he started the season on the practice squad and joined the 53-man roster midseason. Ferentz appeared in two regular-season games as a reserve and was inactive for the final six games of the regular season and all three postseason contests.   

Gauthier, 22, signed with the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Miami (Fla.) on May 2, 2019. The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder started his junior and senior seasons at center for Texas, finishing his career with a streak of 29 straight starts. started the final four games of his sophomore season at left guard before moving to center.

Hall, 22, was signed by New England as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri on May 2, 2019. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder took over as a starter at linebacker at Missouri as a junior in 2017 and finished with 71 total tackles and five sacks as a senior in 2018. Hall was one of eight true freshmen to see action in 2015 and was a key reserve as a sophomore in 2016.

Harris, 23, originally signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (Fla.) on May 11, 2018. The 6-foot-2, 255-pounder was released by New England on Sept. 1, 2018 and spent his rookie season on the practice squad.

Howard, 23, joined the Patriots practice squad on Jan. 8, 2019. The 5-foot-11, 203-pounder signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a rookie free agent out of Appalachian State on April 30, 2018. Howard spent time on the Cardinals and Giants practice squads last year before joining New England during the postseason.

Hoyer, 33, is a veteran of 10 NFL seasons with two different stints with New England from 2009-11 before returning for part of the 2017 season and all of the 2018 season. The 6-foot-2, 216-pounder was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Michigan State in 2009. He has also played with Arizona (2012), Pittsburgh (2012), Cleveland (2013-14), Houston (2015), Chicago (2016) and San Francisco (2017). Hoyer has played in 65 games with 37 starts and has completed 838-of-1,412 passes for 9,902 yards with 48 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

Ivey, 24, signed with New England as a rookie free agent out of Florida on July 30, 2019. The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder played in 49 games with 44 starts at both guard and tackle during his four seasons at Florida, earning Second Team All-SEC honors as a sophomore, junior and senior.

Johnson, 24, was signed by New England as a free agent on April 8, 2019, as part of the NFL's International Pathway Program. The 6-foor-3, 255-pounder from Germany played collegiately at Tennessee and spent the 2018 season with the Stuttgart Scorpions as a tight end. Johnson appeared in 12 games for the Scorpions and totaled 43 receptions for 474 yards and four touchdowns last year.

Kamalu, 26, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Houston Texans out of Miami (Fla.) on May 6, 2016. The 6-foot-6, 295-pounder appeared in 13 games with three starts for the Texans from 2016-17 and registered 11 tackles and three sacks. He was released by the Texans prior to the start of the 2018 regular season and had a brief stint on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. Kamalu joined the Patriots practice squad in November of 2018 and was added to the 53-man roster on Dec. 21, 2018. He appeared in the final two contests of the regular season and was inactive for all three playoff games.

Lang, 27, was signed by New England on April 1, 2019. The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the New York Giants out of Texas-El Paso in 2016. Lang spent the 2017 season on the Minnesota practice squad and the 2018 season on injured reserve for the Vikings.

Munson, 24, spent the majority of the 2018 season on the Patriots practice squad after being signed in October. The 6-foot, 243-pounder began the year on the New York Giants practice squad before being released in early September. Munson originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Giants in 2017 out of San Diego State and made the 53-man roster, seeing action in 14 games with five starts.

Parry, 27, was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on February 4, 2019. The 6-foot-2, 317-pounder is a veteran of four NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (2015-16), New Orleans Saints (2017) and Minnesota Vikings (2018). Parry started all 32 games in his first two NFL seasons with the Colts at nose tackle. Parry appeared in one game for the Saints in 2017 before landing on injured reserve. He joined Minnesota in 2018 and played in three games and finished with three tackles.

Patterson, 24, joined the Patriots practice squad on Nov. 8, 2018. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as a rookie free agent out of Youngstown State on May 14, 2018, and released prior to the start of the regular season. He was signed by Tampa Bay to the practice squad on Oct. 10 and released on Nov. 6.

Sam, 23 was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round (178th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Arizona State. The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder spent his rookie season on injured reserve.

Saubert, 25, was acquired by New England in a trade with Atlanta on Aug. 13, 2019. The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder is a veteran of two NFL seasons with Atlanta after originally joining the team as a fifth-round draft pick (174th overall) out of Drake. Saubert has played in 30 NFL games with one start and has five receptions for 48 yards.

Skipper, 24, was signed by the Patriots to the practice squad on Jan. 8, 2019. The 6-foot-9, 317-pounder originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Dallas Cowboys out of Arkansas on May 17, 2017. Skipper had stints on the Cowboys and Detroit Lions practice squads before being added to the Lions 53-man roster on Oct. 26, 2017. He appeared in one game as a reserve before being released and re-signing with the Detroit practice squad. Skipper was released by Detroit at the end of training camp last year and spent time on the Lions and Denver Broncos practice squads.

St. Louis, 22, was signed by New England as an undrafted free agent out of Miami (Fla.) on May 2, 2019. The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder started at both left and right tackle during his college career. St. Louis made 34 consecutive starts for the Hurricanes to close out his collegiate career, with the last 13 starts coming at left tackle

Thomas, 31, is a veteran of nine NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos (2010-18) and the Houston Texans (2018). The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder originally entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick (22nd overall) by Denver in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech. He was traded by Denver to Houston on Oct. 30, 2018. Thomas was released by Houston on Feb. 12, 2019. He has played in 132 regular-season games with 118 starts and has 688 receptions for 9,330 yards and 62 touchdowns. Thomas has started all 10 postseason games he has played in and totaled 53 receptions for 759 yards and six touchdowns. He was a member of Denver's Super Bowl 50 championship season.

Thurman, 24, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Houston out of Houston on May 14, 2018. The 6-foot-4, 293-pounder was released by the Texans at the end of training camp last season. Thurman was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent on April 4, 2019, and released on April 29. He signed with New England on May 2, 2019.

Webster, 23, was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round (252nd overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Mississippi. The 5-foot-11, 202-pounder appeared in 47 games during his career for Ole Miss and totaled 125 tackles, three interceptions and 22 passes defensed.

Wright, 25, was signed by the Patriots as a free agent on Aug. 25, 2019. The 6-foot, 247-pounder originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick (250th overall) by the Cleveland Browns out of Arizona in the 2016 NFL Draft. Wright began his rookie season on the 53-man roster before being released and signed to the practice squad. Wright was signed by Arizona off the Cleveland practice squad on Dec. 13, 2016 and played in the final three games of the season. He split the 2017 season between the Arizona practice squad and 53-man roster, seeing action in 10 games. Wright was released by Arizona at the end of training camp last season.
