FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today CB Marcus Jones has been placed on injured reserve and that T Caedan Wallace has been activated to the 53-man roster. Wallace played in the first four games with one start at left tackle at the New York Jets on Sept. 19, before being placed on injured reserve on Oct. 4.
In addition, the Patriots announced that WR Alex Erickson and LB Monty Rice have been elevated to the active roster from the practice squad for the second straight week.
Erickson, 32, a veteran of eight NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals (2016-20), Carolina Panthers (2021), Washington Commanders (2022) and the Los Angeles Chargers (2023), was signed to the New England practice squad on Dec. 18, 2024. The 6-foot, 195-pounder, was released by the Chargers on March 13, 2024. Erickson originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Cincinnati out of Wisconsin in 2016. He has played in 108 regular season games with 17 starts and has registered 112 receptions for 1,373 yards with 2 touchdowns. He has also returned 162 punts for 1,303 yards and 110 kickoffs for 2,729 yards.
Rice, 25, originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft pick (92nd overall) by Tennessee in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Georgia. The 6-foot, 223-pounder, played in 35 games for the Titans with 10 starts and accumulated 110 total tackles, 2 passes defensed and 18 special teams tackles. Rice was released by Tennessee on Dec. 5, 2023 and was claimed off waivers by New Orleans on Dec. 6, 2023. Rice was inactive for five games with the Saints. He went to training camp with New Orleans this past summer and spent the beginning of the year on the Atlanta practice squad before being released on Oct. 21, 2024. He was signed by New England to the practice squad on Nov. 5, 2024.
